Upcoming Work Days
April 1, 2017: Cokesbury College Work Day
On April 1st there will be a work day at
Cokesbury College at 9:30 am. They have again requested our assistance in planting and mulching the 4 formal beds and entry
gardens with flowers. Please bring your gloves and gardening tools and join us in supporting this project. Plants and mulch
are provided. The historic College is located on route 246 in Hodges. Please RSVP Sherry Edwards at sherberry3077@att.net so
she has an idea of the participants. This will be a great way to earn some volunteer hours!
City Greenhouse Work Days
Join other LMG members assisting at the
Greenwood City Greenhouse as we help the city get the topiaries ready for the 2017 Festival of Flowers. Much of the work
will focus on the Jeep which our LMG organization has been sponsoring for a number of years now. Watch your emails
for announcements each week as to days and times.
Other Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
Besides formal scheduled workdays, there
are numerous other ways that Master Gardeners can perform volunteer hours to meet their
annual requirement. These include:
*Staffing the Lakelands Master Gardeners' Office telephone Help Line.
*Serving on the organization's board or various committees.
*Attending continuing education classes related to gardening.
*Working with Junior Master Gardener Programs in local schools.
*Watching Educational TV's "Making It Grow" (Tuesdays at 7 PM in Greenwood area).
